What is a stretch cylinder? What is the working principle of the stretching cylinder?

Stretching cylinder is a common pneumatic driving device, which is commonly used in industrial automation systems that require linear extension or contraction. It can extend or retract the push rod through the change of gas pressure, thus realizing a series of mechanical operations.

The stretching cylinder is usually composed of several main parts, including piston, cylinder block, push rod, etc. Its working principle is based on the principle of gas physics. When the air pressure enters the cylinder through the air inlet in the cylinder, the gas will exert a force on the piston, making it move along the direction of the cylinder block, and at the same time pushing the movement of the push rod. The operation process of the stretching cylinder is usually divided into two stages: contraction and extension.

In the contraction stage of the stretching cylinder, the air pressure enters the cylinder through the air inlet of the cylinder, and the pressure moves the piston towards the other end of the cylinder, while pushing the push rod to contract. The magnitude of this compression force depends on the size of the air pressure and the area of the piston.

In the extension stage of the stretching cylinder, the air pressure enters the air outlet of the cylinder, pushing the piston to move towards the outlet of the cylinder, and pushing the extension of the push rod at the same time. In the extension stage, the reverse force of the piston is smaller than that in the contraction stage, because the size of the piston area during the extension is equal to the friction force of the load on the push rod. Once the air pressure disappears, the stretching cylinder will automatically return to its original position.

Stretching cylinders are widely used, such as automation devices, conveyor belts, access control systems, folding doors and curtain control in manufacturing. Because of the reliability and efficiency of stretching cylinders, they have become an important part of the industrial field.
